Issey Miyake – experimental Japanese fashion designer
How did you decide to work together? Since then, we have been designing and producing printed work on a variety of paper, and it was two collections ago spring summer 2023 when we began to make something experimental using washi paper as a medium. For the presentation of this collection, to find synergy with the theme of clothing relating to the human body as well as the surroundings, I thought about creating an installation composed of large pieces of washi paper, where I experimented with pleating to make the pieces sculptural and airy. The Light Leak print series produces blurred gradients, each print a work of art, derived from deliberately exposed camera film.

И ее он использовал для создания своих невероятных дизайнов. Мияке исследовал и изучал материал, а также заказывал особую бумагу, которая была создана вручную мастерицами из Сираиси на севере Японии. Для дизайнера было важно работать именно с ремесленниками, воскрешая их мастерство: он постоянно обращался к традиционным техникам Японии, пытаясь подарить забытым технологиям новую жизнь.
